The Horse Power With our Horses

We would like to introduce our work horses. They are the backbone of our farm. Although I would like to say we use them entirely, we consider ourselves a ‘hybrid’ farm using horses when we can backed up by my husbands toys… i.e. tractor power.

Rusty

This was our first time fitting Rusty to a harness. A learning experience – the harness is too big, twisted, and more.

Duke

This was the day we brought Duke home. He comes with a funny story on how we bought him.

Mike

This is Mike, one of our Belgians enjoying the sun. Mike had to be humanely put down in early 2021 due to medical complications.

Mark

This is Mark, a Belgian, also enjoying the sun.

Pete and Blitzen and Sampson

Sampson, Pete and Blitzen are all Haflingers

Frosty

Frosty is one of our newer horses. Full Percheron, he was 6 when we bought him from a slaughter bound auction house. He came in scared, flighty, and nervous but he came around quickly.

Smokey

Smokey came from another slaughter auction facility. This photo is one of his first days here last fall. His scars are now healed and he is looking great. We have not used him just yet but hopefully sometime this summer I’ll find the time to start working with him.
